## Abstract Resonance Raman spectra, obtained with 676.4 and 752.5 nm excitation, are reported for the carotenoid molecule astaxanthin __in situ__ in the shell of a lobster. The spectra show unusual frequency shifts and absolute intensity behaviour in the case of 676.4 and 752.5 nm excitation, resp
