Structures and nonlinear optical properties of dimethylcroconate (DMCC) and dibenzoylcroconate (DBCC) are reported. The SHG active DMCC crystal packed in non-centrosymmetric P2 1 2 1 2 1 space group. The DBCC crystal has a host-guest structure and crystallized in centrosymmetric P2 1 /n space group.

β¦ Synopsis
A tetrasilver(I) phosphonitocavitand was synthesized and structurally characterized. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2 1 =n with a ΒΌ 15:0151Γ°13Γ; b ΒΌ 39:832Γ°4Γ; c ΒΌ 15:2479Γ°14Γ A Λ, b ΒΌ 95:1000Γ°2Γ8; V ΒΌ 9083:3Γ°14Γ A Λ3 and Z ΒΌ 4: The structure contains four coplanar silver atoms bridged by four m-Cl and one central trapped m 4 -Cl atoms in the inside of the closing bowl-shaped cavitand. Nonlinear optical properties of this metal-cavitand were investigated. Optical limiting effect with threshold of 0.6 J cm 22 was observed with the laser pulses of 7 ns at 532 nm.
