β¦ Synopsis
hfeasurerncnts of dielectric pcrmittivity and electric conductance are presented for mixtures of carbosylic acidsformic, trifluoroacetic, acetic and propionic -and non-polar liquids, For the dielectric and associative behavior of carbosylic acids a knowledge of the cis-rrms conformational equilibria of the monomeric acid molecules seems to be essential. Therefore the cis and rrans conformations of these molecules have been calculated by rhc CND0/2 and KILO methods. Appreciable rotational b%rizrs for their interconversion have been obtained-Measureme& of the (relative) dielectric permittiviv E' and the electric conductance o [ 11 were performed and compared with literature data on formic acid, trifluoroacetic acid, acetic acid, and propiorric acid in mixtures with non-polar iiquids. There is a surprising agreement of the concentration * ?resent address: Institut fi.ir Thermo-und Fluid-dynamik, Ruhr IJniversitIt Rochum, BRD.
