โœฆ Synopsis

The connection 1)etween molecular resonance phenornma in light heavy-ion collisions: alphaclustering anti ext,rrrnely-deforrricd statcs in light a-like iiuclei is discussed. For example, tlie superileformrd bands recently discoverrd in light N: Z nuclei such as "Ar, ""Ca, 4xCr, arid 56Ni by y r a y spectroscopy may have a special link with resonant stat,es in collisions wit,h a-like nuclei. The rrsonaait. reactions involving identical bosoris such as 12C+12C; l6O+I6O 24Mg+24Mg and 2sSi-28Si are of interest. For instance, a butterfly mode of viliration of the J" = 38+ resonance of 28Si+28Si has been discovered in recent particle y-my angular correlations rneasurtments. The search for signatures of strongly deformed shapes and clnstering in light ?J=Z nuclei is also the domain of charged pa.rticle spectroscopy. The investigation of y-dec undertaken for excitation cmergies where previously nuclear molecular resoriarices were found in 12C+'2C collisions. In this case the "C-12C scattering sta.tes can be related t o t,he t m a l m p resonance arid, tentatively, to the resonant radiative cal)ture 12C+12C reaction.
