A comparative study of microwave absorption in single crystals and ceramic samples of YBa2Cu3OT\_~ has made it possible to distinghuish the processes in the bulk from those in the intergranular medium. The origin of various types of hysteresis in direct and modulated absorption singnals is clarified
It is shown that the shape of the field-modulated microwave-absorption signal in the mixed state of type-II superconductors reveals the field dependence of the flux-pinning parameters. Experimental data are presented for thin films of YBa2Cu3OT\_6 grown by the pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique
