✦ Synopsis
Values of the parameters of the modified Bethe᎐Bloch theory have been ascertained for kapton by analyzing recent measurements of stopping powers for 0.56᎐1.54-MeV protons and 1.08᎐3.19-MeV alpha particles. The resulting recommended values of the target parameters are 80.1 eV for mean excitation energy and 1.64 for the Barkas-effect parameter and 1.86 for a single effective-charge parameter assigned to the kapton-alpha particle target᎐projectile combination.
