I n the course of previous studies of the electrical potential of frog skin (compare Barnes, '39 a, b, '40) it was noted that this potential is very sensitive to mechanical manipulation. Accordingly a special investigation was made of variations in potential associated with disturbances of a mechanical nature such as contact, pressure, tension and puncturing of the skin.
