We examined the capacity of the galling aphid, Pemphigus betae, to manipulate the sink-source translocation patterns of its host, narrowleaf cottonwood (Populus angustifolia). A series of C-labeling experiments and a biomass allocation experiment showed that P. betae galls functioned as physiologic
