✦ Synopsis
THIS is a pocket-book on endoscopic procedures in relation to the gastro-intestinal tract. The advantages of the various instruments are discussed and contraindications and complications are mentioned. One might doubt whether routine sigmoidoscopy is really indicated in every hospitalized patient over 40 years of age, and a statement that metastases are better seen at peritonoscopy than at laparotomy may be disputed. The second part of the book is devoted to the various biopsies that can be obtained and to a discussion of the histological material. This little booklet is a useful guide to the possibilities and limitations of these endoscopic procedures.
