β¦ Synopsis
As we are aware, chromatography is a major analytical tool in biomedical application and research. Development of chromatographic techniques for biomedicine is an ongoing and a fast expanding field. In order to familiarize the reader with the standing of now established modern chromatographic techniques, I have appealed to experts, who have dedicated years to their field of expertise, to share their experiences with us in applying these techniques to biomedical applications.
The six papers in this issue, devoted to 'Modern Techniques in Biomedical Chromatography', will update topics in methods for measuring neurotransmitters and metabolites, and the determination of the concentrations of these metabolites in normal and neurological disorders, in HPLC of porphyrins for diagnosis of porphyrias; in chromatographic techniques in inborn errors of metabolism, in chiral liquid chromatography and in field flow fractionation. I am indebted to the authors who graciously spent much time in summarizing their specialities in a concerted effort to bring modern chromatographic techniques to our colleagues.
