β¦ Synopsis
This book considers the problem of determining how many barrels of crude oil an oil-producing and exporting country should produce annually for exportβalong with several other important problems that decision-makers in the crude oil industry faceβand discusses procedures for ο¬nding optimum solutions for them. It considers the important Objective Functions they need in making these critical decisions, and discusses procedures to ο¬nd the best solutions. Outputs from the treatment units, in an oil reο¬nery are only semi-ο¬nished products; these are blended into ο¬nished products like gasoline, diesel oil, etc., meeting various speciο¬cations that the marketplace demands. The book discusses models for solving these problems optimally with examples.

This book aims to demonstrate and detail the pervasive nature of Discrete Optimization. The handbook couples the difficult, critical-thinking aspects of mathematical modeling with the hot area of discrete optimization. It is done with an academic treatment outlining the state-of-the-art for research
