✦ Synopsis

Delay time analysis is used to model the maintenance practices for coal face machinery within British Coal. This model is used to predict the effectiveness of condition monitoring using the resultant downtime of machinery as the relevant measure. Numerical examples of the models developed are presented using data obtained from collieries in the course of the research.
