✦ Synopsis

A two-phase, one-dimensional model of catalytic fixed-bed reactor with periodic flow reversal is studied numerically. In addition to well-known behaviour. i.e. the presence of a pair of spatially symmetric temperature profiles at the ends of respective flow reversal half-periods, the nonsymmetric pairs of temperature profiles and aperiodic spatiotemporal patterns am also observed in a certain range of cycling periods.

## Abstract This paper describes the formulation and tuning of a model‐based controller for a catalytic flow reversal reactor (CFRR). A plug flow non‐linear pseudo‐homogeneous mathematical representation of the process is used to model the mass and energy transport phenomena for the model‐based con

Catalytic decomposition of polyethylene (PE) was carried out with a flow reactor (370 mm x 27 mm) and a batch reactor, and the results were compared to clarify the polymer decomposition process during gasification. The decomposition of PE was not found to occur directly from polymer and oligomer cha
