✦ Synopsis

Hydrothermal

zeolite synthesis with aging of the amorphous gel at low temperature followed by elevated temperature crystallization is simulated by population balance methods. It is assumed that the aging step results in the formation of viable nuclei that effectively lie dormant until the temperature is raised. It is shown that the number of nuclei generated during aging strongly influences the crystallization history, while the size of these nuclei is relatively unimportant.
