Abstract
We modeled crystallization of isotactic polypropylene inside plates, rods, and pipes during cooling. The modeling was based on the solution of the heat conduction equation, which takes into account the liberation of the heat of crystallization. The predictions of polymer crystallization kinetics was based on differential scanning calorimetry data and on spherulite growth rate measurements. The influence of size on the crystallization process was determined. ยฉ 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 86: 1363โ1372, 2002

The development of texture which exists in polymer spherulites grown from single phase melts containing an appreciable amount of noncrystallizable material was investigated. This texture generally consists of lamellar bundles separated by amorphous regions, both of which are typically 0.1-1 mm thick
