โœฆ Synopsis

two-dimensional model for in-plane vibrations of a damped linear elestic Hookean partially clamped platelike structure with a noneymmetrical damage ia propoeed. The model includes both active and passive contributions of piezoelectric ceramic pat&a bonded to the surface of the structure. Both strong and weak formulations of the equations of motion are presented. The problem ie then formulated ae a second-order equation in time. The existence, uniqueness of the solutions, and continuity with respect to the data are discussed.

In this paper the problem of using measured modal parameters to detect and locate damage in plate-like structures is investigated. Many methods exist for locating damage in a structure given the modal properties before and after damage. Unfortunately, many of these methods require a correlated ยฎnite
