Abstract
One‐way light propagation through a steplike discontinuity of dielectric‐slab waveguide is simulated by using the finite‐difference beam‐propagation method (FD‐BPM) and the Green's function method. The validity of the slowly varying envelope approximation in modeling of the total field distribution and the radiation‐field distribution is analyzed. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
