Pheophorbide a (Pheo) is a well-known hydrophobic photosensitizer used for photodynamic treatment of various diseases. The influence of the surroundings on the electronic properties of photosensitizers mainly accumulating in membrane structures is of relevance for their photoactivity. In this paper
