โฆ Synopsis
Experiments on the noise-reduction achieved by acoustical barriers have been carried out on a scale model for a straight line source. The latter consisted of incoherent source elements, consisting of small air jets. For the attenuation by a single barrier the simple function AL = -(10 + 6 log N) dB was found to fit the experimental data. The influence of different barrier shapes was also measured.
