✦ Synopsis

Abstrac-For

the process of mixing any particulate system, the fundamental technological problem is the determination of the time necessary to obtain a mixture of the desired degree of mixing. In this paper, a method of determining this time, including the admitted estimation error, is presented. The method requires knowledge of the mixing-process kinetics based either on a theoretical model or on experimental data. It has been assumed that the particle distribution of the mixing tracer in each moment of the mixing process can he described by a beta-distribution.

Terzaghi's 'effective stress' principle, though originally developed for soils, has been extensively applied to water saturated cemented materials (such as concrete, rocks, masonry units, etc.). There are, however, serious reservations regarding its validity for this class of materials. In this pape
