β¦ Synopsis
THE power consumption was measured as described in chapter 2.2.
The abundance of data given in hterature on the power consumption of stirrers made it superfluous to mvestigate this point extensively. We, therefore, only measured the power consumption of stirrers under conditions not yet, or not adequately, dealt with in the literature. In this way various stnring conditions on a basis of mixmg tune and power consumption can be compared (chapter 4).
The power consumption P was converted in the usual way into the dimensionless group P 8, which was then correlated with the other pnd dimensionless groups, such as Reynolds number

## Abstract Of necessity, the mixing process is sometimes restricted to the laminar regime, although turbulent mixing is generally more desirable. Common examples of laminar mixing are found when the fluid has a very high viscosity, or when one of the mixture components is shear sensitive. It has b
