β¦ Synopsis
The main theorem characterizes Mittag-Leffler modules as 'positively atomic' modules (in contrast to the characterization of pure-injective modules as 'positively saturated' modules). This is applied to reduced (resp., direct) products of Mittag-Leffler modules and pure-semisimple (resp., coherent and self-injective von Neumann regular rings).
