The nucleotide sequence of the 18S rRNA gene from soybean mitochondria was determined and is presented here in comparison to the 18S rRNA genes from wheat and maize mitochondria. All three genes exhibit remarkable sequence similarity supporting the proposal that there is a slower rate of nucleotide
