## Abstract Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) large deletions and mtDNA mutations have been demonstrated in various types of human cancer. The relationship between the occurrence of such alterations and the nuclear microsatellite instability (MSI) status of the neoplastic cells remains controversial. In an
