Nagel sembra infatti vivere in un mondo a parte, dove infuria la battaglia costante tra il proprio istinto sfrenato e un mondo esterno basato sul rispetto di convenzioni rigide che egli non Γ¨ disposto, o non Γ¨ in grado di accettare. Durante il soggiorno estivo la sua presenza e il suo sguardo spesso brutale verso la natura umana, agiranno come un catalizzatore, liberando gli impulsi nascosti, i pensieri reconditi, i desideri repressi e gli istinti piΓΉ oscuri degli abitanti del villaggio. Arrogante, depravato e incapace di comprendere l'animo umano, in particolare il suo, Nagel puΓ² prevedere, ma non puΓ² impedire, la sua auto-distruzione, che lo trascina in una spirale di incoerenza e delirio il cui atto finale non puΓ² che essere l'uscita da questo mondo, inadatto a contenere il suo tormento.
