Guy de Maupassant (1850โ1893) was a French writer, one of the finest exponents of the modern short story. Many of his stories, describe the futility of war, especially the Franco-Prussian War of the 1870s. Maupassant's stories are characterized by their economy and efficient. The stories "Boule de Suif" and "Le Horla", accounted his masterpieces.
