โฆ Synopsis
The miscibility behaviour of poly(cyanomethyl methacrylate) (PCYMMA) and poly(2cyanoethyl methacrylate) (PCYEMA) with poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA) and poly(2hydroxypropyl methacrylate) (PHPMA) has been studied by differential scanning calorimetry and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. PCYMMA is completely miscible with both PHEMA and PHPMA. PCYEMA is completely miscible with PHEMA but is miscible with PHPMA when the blend contains <5Owt% of PCYEMA. FTIR studies show that the interactions between cyanocontaining polymethacrylates and hydroxyl-containing polymethacrylates are weaker than the selfassociation of PHEMA or PHPMA.
