โœฆ Synopsis

The Stated Meeting of The Franklin Institute was held at 8:15 P.M. in the Lecture Hall, preceded by a dinner in Franklin Hall at which 28 Freshman Members were honored. Wynn Laurence LePage, President, presided. The meeting was called to order with approximately 275 members and guests present. The President stated that the minutes of the Annual Meeting of January 20, 1965 were published in the February issue of the Journal. There being no corrections or additions, the minutes were approved as published. The President announced that the minutes of the Stated Meeting of February 17, 1965 will be published in the March issue of the Journal and will be presented for approval at the next Stated Meeting.

Dr. LePage announced that this occasion marked the Tenth Edward G. Budd Lecture. This lecture was established in 1948, by the family of the late Edward G. Budd, as a tribute to his long-time membership in The Institute and as a member of the Board of Managers.

The President then regretfully announced that Dr. Isay Ba]inkin~ originally scheduled as the lecturer for this evening, had been hospitalized within the last forty-eight hours and was unable to be present. Fortunately, however, Mr. Charles C. Smith, Head of the Physics Department, Radnor Township Senior High School, had kindly consented to substitute for the scheduled speaker and talk upon a subject similar to that envisaged by Dr. Balinkin.

Dr. LePage expressed his great appreciation for this gesture and then introduced Mr. Smith who presented a lecture, with the use of illustrations, slides, and demonstration equipment, entitled "The Wonderful World of Color."

The question period which followed Mr. Smith's talk showed the enthusiasm and absorbing interest the audience had in the subject.

The President, after expressing The Institute's sincere thanks to Mr. Smith for his excellent presentation, adjourned the meeting at 9:30 P.~.
