✦ Synopsis
In this paper, we are interested in mining the data with natural ordering according to some attributes, and the time series data is one of this kind of data. The problem of mining the time series data is that the quantity at di erent time may be very close or even equal to each other. To solve this problem, we propose a fuzzy linguistic summary as one of the data mining functions in our KDD (Knowledge Discovery in Databases) system to discover useful knowledge from the database. To help users to premine a database, our system also provides a graphic display tool so that the users can predetermine what knowledge could be discovered from the database. To demonstrate that our system works correctly, we use our system to analyze a time series data problem, the resources usage analysis problem, to predict the utilization ranks of di erent resources at a speciÿc time.
