โฆ Synopsis
For a non-interacting quantum-particle gas in a near-equilibrium steady state a general expression for the entropy production is given. The particles are scattered by a cluster of scatterers that are coupled incoherently via connecting ideal leads. The internal current and/or density distribution can be determined by minimizing the entropy production. This quantity is invariant under a transformation where differences in particle density are replaced by those in electrostatic potential.
