Some general results are reported on the ckulation of mngnctic susceptibilities far systems of paired electrons.

Specifically, the consequences of using a gauge that minimizes the diamagnetic port of the second order energy are analyzed. The results are applied to rhc explanation of ring current effects in annulenes.
