โœฆ Synopsis


A minimax robust LQ design procedure is applied to the freeness control in a thermomechanical pulping plant. The process dynamics are subject to changes caused by wear of the refiner plates. Process models are identified at different operating conditions, and a control law is then designed so as to give good control performance at all operating conditions. This is achieved by minimizing the max function of the output variance over the set of models subject to a constraint on the maximum input variance.
