## Abstract A new planar slottedβpatch resonator is proposed for RF and microwave bandpass filter design. The novelty of the proposed resonator is that it can reduce the size of the filter significantly. It is found that the resonant frequency of the resonator is reduced (for example, by 61%). A du

Abstract
Using miniaturized hairpin resonators and following the Chebychev model, we have designed and fabricated superconducting filters with a centre frequency of 2.2 GHz and a bandwidth of 5 MHz. The measured unloaded Qβfactor of the resonator fabricated on LaAlO~3~ using YBCO thin film is 47,000 at 60 K. Prototype filters with three and four poles have been realized by using Nb thin films. The measured performances do not show appreciable degradations up to 10 dBm. Β© 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract The modified configurations of maximally flat parallelβcoupled lines (MFβPCL) structure are introduced to improve the performance of the conventional MFβPCL resonator. To obtain a higher rejection (β39 dB), symmetry response, wider band (BW about 32%), and less insertion loss (β0.4 dB)
tors have also been presented. A convenient chart for filter design has been constructed using this model and the equivalent relations. A simple systematic design procedure has been established for filter designers. Finally, an example of a three-order compact filter has been designed. The new filte
