✦ Synopsis

A miniature magnetoresistance probe, made of pure copper wire, has been developed for mapping magnetic fields. The probe has been used to map field profiles up to 15 T, with a resolution in field ⌬B of better than 2 ϫ 10 -4 T at 15 T. The small size of the probe, 1 mm diam. ϫ 2.5 mm length, makes it useful for measuring field homogeneity and field profile. While the present measurements were made from 2 to 4.2 K, the probe may be used down to 1 mK.
