✦ Synopsis
The addition of light mineral oil was found to be effective in preventing foaming during plant cell cultivation in stirred tank fermenters without any adverse effect on cell growth. The optimum amount of oil is about 5% (by volume) of the total liquid medium. The best time for the addition is after the lag period of the cell growth cycle, which is about 2 days after cultivation.
