✦ Synopsis

been observed in the spatial region near s 0. This improvement is thought to be mainly due to the introduction of G ci1 which can provide compensation for the contribution beyond T , which has not been taken into account in the previous 0 method. Since the G corresponds to the complex images ci1 for the large k -contribution in the spectral domain, the complex images in this study can be called quasistatic complex images. Thus, the present method breaks the spectral func-. . tion into four contributions: 1 quasistatic, 2 propagating . . modes, 3 quasistatic complex images, and 4 complex images in the conventional one-level approach.

In conclusion, an improved complex image method has been considered, which can give more accurate evaluation of the spatial Green's functions than the previous method over the wide frequency range as well as the whole spatial range. So the present closed-form Green's functions can be used for calculating the potentials at any point independently of the source-to-field distances over the wide frequency range. The combination of the present closed-form Green's functions and the moment method may help in analyzing the problem of EMP coupling through an aperture into a PPW and the microstrip slot antenna with a reflector.
