โฆ Synopsis
These two books are part of a 12 volume series. Each volume brings together between 7 and 13 papers prepared by industry leaders on a number of topics related to the materials, technology, manufacturing and application of VLSI circuits. Some volumes have a single theme such as Volume 10 on Surface and Interface effects whilst others contain a number of papers less closely related.
Volume 9 has a broad theme of applications, design and future trends with papers on such diverse subjects as "VLSIC Assembly and Packaging", "VLSI Design Tools and Environments" and "The Next Generation of Integrated Circuits". Papers with a technical bias include "High Speed Transport in Ultrasmall Dimensions" and "Transport in Submicrometer Devices".
Volume 10 presents ? papers on Surfaces and Interface Effects looking at the structure of interfaces and electronic properties. The objective of this volume is to give the reader an appreciation of the importance of linking an understanding of interface microstructure with the properties of electronic barriers in small devices.
The contributors to this series have obviously been chosen with care and most are currently active in "state of the art" research and development projects at a diverse selection of universities and research laboratories.
This series of volumes presents a valuable set of collected papers which would be a useful addition to most research and university libraries active in this field. D.A. TAYLOR
