โฆ Synopsis
West Banks and Yemen. Oil World Annual 2006 provides more detailed information on all except Bahrain, Gaza Strip, and West Banks. This will not be reproduced here except to note the population and the consumption of oils and fats. These data make it possible to put the remaining 13 countries into three groups: * Five countries with the largest population and consumption: Turkey (74 million, 2280 thousand metric tonnes), Iran (70 million and 1600 kmt), Iraq (30 million and 560 kmt), Saudi Arabia (25 million and 442 kmt), and Syria (19 million and 440 kmt). * Three countries with intermediate levels: Yemen (22 million and 184 kmt), Israel (7 million and 207 kmt), and Jordan (6 million and 207 kmt). * Five countries with small populations and low consumption levels: United Arab Emirates (5 million and 100 kmt), Lebanon (4 million and 106 kmt), Kuwait (3 million and 70 kmt), Oman (3 million and 87 kmt), and Qatar (1 million and 13 kmt).
