✦ Synopsis

Microwave spectrum of gaseous potassium cyanide (KCN) has been measured in the frequency range 85-107 GHz. Vapour has heen produced in equilibrium over the solid phase in an absorption ccl1 at a temperature of 6OO*C_ Altogether 165 lines are reported, ntl close to the limit of sensitivity of the spectrometer. Potassium cyanide is generally accepted to be linear. Some J dependence similar to that found in common linear molecules is indeed found, at least in the spectral range studied. However, the resuiting I3 and Lz values seem to contradict iiieer structure, cyanide BS well 8s isocyanide, Con~~u~ation in better agreement with experimental data is discussed.
