✦ Synopsis
We have used non-resonant microwave absorption to study c-axis YBazCuaO7_6/PrBa2Cu307_ 6 superlanices and compare the response to a film of similarly grown YBa2Cu307_~ (YBCO). Near the respective transition temperatures, the response of the supedattice samples and the YBCO film have similar amplitudes and orientation dependences. This is consistent with the microwave loss being related to magnetic flux penetration at (110) slip planes. At lower temperatures, the response of the superlanices is much stronger than that of the YBCO film and, while both responses are hysteretic at low temperatures, the widths of the hysteresis have opposite orientation dependences, which we attribute to the role of the PrBa2CuaO7_6 layers.
