✦ Synopsis

The pure rotational spectrum of magnesium sulfide has been measured with a cavity pulsed microwave Fourier transform ( MWFT ) spectrometer, as a test of a new laser ablation source. The J Γ… 1 -0 transition near 16 GHz has been measured for 4 isotopomers in the ground vibrational state, as well as for the main isotopomer, 24 Mg 32 S, in the first excited vibrational state. 25 Mg nuclear hyperfine structure has been observed and the nuclear quadrupole coupling constant, eQq ( 25 Mg ) , has been determined. A value for the equilibrium bond length has been obtained.

Trivalent and hexavalent chromium oxides have been examined by time-of-flight laser microprobe mass spectrometry and Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FTICRMS). The positive-ion spectra show a strong correlation with the valency of chromium in the oxide. Thus, the positive

The rotational spectrum of a short-lived free radical, HCCO, has been observed by using a Fabry-Perot-type Fourier-transform microwave spectrometer combined with a pulsed-discharge nozzle. \(\mathrm{HCCO}\) has been produced by a discharge of a mixture of \(\mathrm{C}_{2} \mathrm{H}_{2}\) and \(\mat
