โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)โ€based polymer thinโ€films are characterized at microwave frequencies. The dielectric properties of the films are extracted from comparison of the propagation constants of the coโ€planar waveguide (CPW) lines on bare MgO substrates and the DNAโ€based films on MgO substrates. The insertion loss introduced by an undoped DNAโ€based polymer film is only 0.1 dB at 10 GHz and 0.5 dB at 30 GHz. A redโ€dyeโ€doped DNA polymer film exhibited higher losses. The relative dielectric constant of the undoped DNAโ€based film averages to 4 at microwave frequencies, and the lossโ€tangent is below 0.1 up to 30 GHz. The dielectric properties of a 5% redโ€dyeโ€doped DNA polymer film is compared to that of the pure DNA film. The DR1 doped DNA film exhibits 0.4โ€dB higher loss at 10 GHz and 0.9โ€dB higher loss at 30 GHz. ยฉ 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The dielectric properties of aqueous solutions of DNA were measured at frequencies ranging from 0.1 to 12 GHz. The results are analyzed using the Maxwell mixture theory and yield a value for the hydration of the DNA of about 0.4 g/g, which is in the range ohserved in other investigations. No evidenc

## Abstract Nickel ferrite (NiFe~2~O~4~) was synthesized by the micelles mixing method, using lyophilized coconut oil. The method leads to the formation of ferrite nanoparticles. Nickel ferrite was prepared in coconut oil suspension and annealed during 4 h, at 400, 600, 800, 1000, and 1200ยฐC. The X

The relative permittivity and conductivity of rabbit eye lens were measured in the frequency domain between 2 and 18 GHz at temperatures of 37 and 20 " C . An analysis of the data suggested that a significant proportion of the bulk water in nuclear and cortical lens tissue may behave differently to
