Hot regions in solar flares produce X-radiation and microwaves by thermal processes. Recent X-ray data make it possible to specify the temperature and emission measure of the soft X-ray source, by using, for instance, a combination of the 1-8 A (peak response at about 2 keV) and the 0.5-3 ]k (peak r

During the time period of November 1968 to March 1970, 259 15.4 GHz impulsive microwave bursts have been identified of which 147 had associated 2-12 A, soft X-ray bursts. Average durations, rise times, and decay times for the microwave bursts are 2.9 • 2.4 min, 0.9 :t: 0.8 min, and 2.2 i 2.1 rain, r

Measurements of the solar X-ray spectrum between 3/~ and 15 A are reported. They were made with two slitless Bragg crystal spectrometers flown on a Sun-pointed Skylark rocket on 8 August, 1967. The use of a beryl crystal has provided higher spectral resolution than hitherto in the spectral range 12
