โœฆ Synopsis

Microwave absorption due to SO2 -Ha0 complexes in a mixture of 2-20 torr water vapor and 0.16 torr SO2 has been investigated.

The absorption was measured at several frequencies in the wings of the 23(6,18)-24(5,19) rotational transition of the SO2 molecule.

The measured excess absorption of 6x10 -8 cm-l/torrH o can be explained by absorption due to S02-H20 pairs. The bri *a ge spectrometer and the measuring method are described.

Absolute absorption rates of mixtures of water vapor and carbon dioxide have been measured at 239 GHz which is in an atmospheric window for the rotational and vibrational spectra of both species. The dependence on pressure as well as temperature has been obtained. The experimental data are compared
