โœฆ Synopsis

In this paper, the results of several years of research work by the authors on the microstructure of In-Situ composites are reviewed. Alloy systems inestigated are the fibrous AI-Ni and cobalt-base superalloy Co-Cr-C, and the lamellar AI-Cu and Co-W. The effect of solidification variables and off-eutectic compositions on the microstructure of AI-Ni Co-W and AI-Cu systems was studied. The influence of heat flow direction on the microstructure of AI-Ni was examined. Post solidification isothermal annealing was performed for A1-Cu and Co-Cr-C alloy and thermal cycling regimes were imposed

It is experimentally shown that an in situ compatibilizer for the thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer blend can be generated in the extrusion process and that the compatibilizing action by the maleic anhydride-attached ethylene-propylenediene terpolymer (MA-EPDM) in the blend of nylon46 and a th
