✦ Synopsis
The 13 C(α, n) 16 O reaction is studied in a microscopic multicluster model, where the 13 C and 16 O nuclei are described by a tetrahedral structure involving 3α + n and 4α clusters, respectively. The model provides a good description of the 17 O spectrum near the 13 C + α threshold. We focus on the 1/2 + 2 subthreshold state which essentially determines the low-energy 13 C(α, n) 16 O S-factor. The present result is consistent with a previous microscopic calculation and confirms the lowenergy enhancement. The analysis is complemented by an investigation of the 16 O(n, γ) 17 O and 16 O(p, γ) 17 F reactions.
