โฆ Synopsis
Application. This protocol provides an alternative propagation system for western hemlock, an important forest tree species of Canada. Using this method, about 4 plantlets can be obtained from one seed after 12 months . This number can be increased considerably by shoot remultiplication or by extended elongation periods for the initial adventitious shoots . Because of the relatively low numbers of plantlets produced, this protocol is of experimental value, but cost effective commercial application may be possible pending field testing and further investigation of remultiplication, elongation and rooting .
