Abstract
Leaders who seem to be "making it up as they go along" are often making plans that focus on specific outcomes with very narrow time horizons (often 90 days or less), moving from one short term objective to another using micro strategies. Micro strategies allow leaders to course‐correct their way in pursuit of a longer‐term strategy, such as a company's five‐year strategic plan, even in environments with rapid change or high degrees of ambiguity. This article offers 8 micro strategy best practices and describes the micro strategy process using the start‐up of a company called crowdSPRING as a case study.
