ISTROL)UCTIOS 'I'& hctcromctrlc dctcrmlnatton of cadmium with sodium dlethylcl~thlocarbamatc (E CUM) can bc made either m acetate solution or, more successfully, in ammoruacal citrate solution. 'The molar sensitivity of the reactlon is high (w).owz~J[) and of the same order of magnitude as with copper and zrnc carbamatcs. Approxlmatcly o 5 mg cadmium m 20 ml solution can bc dctcrmincd, under appropriate condlttons, In ro-15 minutes. The solutions may contam 99-99 9'y0 of the followmg forclgn metals as cations' Mg+l, Ca +2 Ba+2, Zn+*, hln+*, A1+3, CV, Fc+~, Sb+s and Pb+* Except in spcctal cases , the error was less than I'$$,. The sensltlvtty of the rcactlon remains the same whcthcr the detcrmmatlon 1s made m the prcscncc or absence of foreign metals.
