he Mexican natural gas bonanza has begun.

T Since new regulations permitting private investment in natural gas distribution and transportation took effect on the first day of 1996, four new natural gas distribution permits have been granted to consortia led by three different foreign investors. Additionally, three new pipeline project permits have been awarded to another three international investor groups. Over a dozen more downstream infrastructure project opportunities will be open to international competition over the next two years, and a handful of companies is fighting to stake their claim in the Mexican energy market.

The Mexican natural gas bonanza has begun.
